Absecon Lighthouse

The Absecon Light is located in the north end of Atlantic City, New Jersey overlooking Absecon Inlet. It was built in 1857, was deactivated between 1933 and 1997, but it has been reactivated and is open to public visitation including climbing to the watch room and external gallery. At 171 feet, the Absecon Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in New Jersey and the third tallest lighthouse in the U.S. Visitors willing to climb 228 steps up the restored lighthouse tower are greeted with a spectacular view of the Jersey Shore.
