St. John's Basilica
St. John Aniti (The Basilica of St. John) was a basilica in the ancient city of Efes, now present day Selçuk. It was constructed by Justinian I in the 6th century. The Basilica stands over what is believed to be the burial site of John the Apostle.
Construction of the church began in about 536 AD, it was dedicated on June 28, 550 AD and completed in 565 AD. After its completion, it was regarded as one of the holiest churches of its time..
